THE 2026 BERKELEY STAGS HALL OF FAME :
Congratulations to our 2026 Class. Hall of Fame banquet is scheduled for September 10th, 6 PM at the school cafeteria, and the Hall of Fame game is September 11th vs. Summerville.
*Royce Droze (Class of 1955) – 4-year letter winner in football and 3-year letter winner in basketball and baseball. A member of 5 different District 7 Class B championship teams in football, basketball and baseball and a member of the 1953 Class B Lower State Championship football team. Team Co-Captain of the 1955 District 7 Class B Championship basketball team. Led the 1955 baseball team in batting with a .361 average.
*Ted Fiddie (Class of 1964) – 4-year letter winner in football and a 3-year letter winner in baseball. A member of the 1960 and 1963 Lower State champion baseball teams. A member of the 1960 State and 1963 conference championship football teams where he played offensive and defensive lineman. In 1963 was named team MVP and was an Evening Post All-Star team, Shrine Bowl team, and All-State football team selection. 1964 North-South All-Star team selection. Played football at the University of South Carolina, then played professionally for Montreal in the Continental League and semi-professionally for the Quad City Raiders.
*Steve Lynes (Class of 1973) – Multi-year letter winner in football, baseball, and track. Captain of the 1973 baseball team and an all-Conference selection. 2-way starter who was Co-Captain of and an All-Conference selection on the 1972 football team that finished the season with a 9-1 record. Led the 1972 team at receiver in receptions, yards, and touchdowns and team leader in interceptions at defensive back. Kicked a last second game winning field goal against Beaufort to keep the team undefeated at the time. Played collegiately at UT-Chattanooga for one season, the transferred to North Carolina A&T where he played on both sides of the ball and lettered 2 years.
*Dawn White (Class of 1984) – 3-sport athlete in basketball, softball, and track. 4-year letter winner and team leader in most statistical categories in both softball and basketball, playing on teams that made the playoffs all 4 years of her career. Named to the All-Region basketball team in 1984. Scored 1064 points over her 4 years at BHS. Had the skills to compete at the next level but chose a career in the military after graduation.
*1996 State Championship football team – Led by head coach, Jerry Brown, the 1996 Stags football team was Region 6-AAAA champion and Division II-AAAA State Champion, finishing the season with a 14-1 record. The 1996 Stags outscored their opponents 376-123, an average 25-8 per game margin. The team had several players who received individual honors including eight who were named to the All-Region team, two Shrine Bowl selections, and two North-South All-Star team selections. Several team members went on to play at the college level, and four have been inducted into the Berkeley Athletic Hall of Fame individually to date.
