Rodney Sabiston (Class of 1957) – Four-year letter winner in football, baseball and basketball. A member of seven District 7 Class B championship teams in football, basketball and baseball. Team co-captain and Most Valuable Player of the 1957 District 7 Class B Championship basketball team. Named to the 1957 all-district basketball team. Walked on and made the baseball team as a freshman at Clemson before transferring to LSU to complete his degree.
Joe Harnage (Class of 1976) – Letter winner in tennis, basketball and football. The No. 1 player on Berkeley’s inaugural tennis team in 1975. Played college tennis at Francis Marion University, where he lettered four years and was team co-captain as a senior. Has served as head coach of the BHS girls tennis team for over 20 years and also coached the boys tennis team. In 2019, the Berkeley County school board voted to name the new tennis complex at BHS the Joe Harnage Tennis Complex in his honor.
Will Swicord (Class of 1990) – Two-sport letter winner in football and golf. Football standout at linebacker from 1986-89. Member of the 1986 Region 6-AAAA and Division I-AAAA Lower State championship football team. In 1988 and 1989, had 250 total tackles and earned all-region and Post and Courier All-Lowcountry honors both years. All-State selection in 1988 and North-South All-Star game selection in 1989. Recruited by multiple schools, he lettered at Furman and was a member of Furman’s 1990 Southern Conference championship football team. Transferred to the University of South Carolina and played for the Gamecocks in 1991 and 1992.
Jabari Levey (Class of 2002) – Three-sport letter winner in football, basketball and track. In 2002, was state champion in discus and all-state track selection. Standout offensive lineman who recorded 100-plus pancake blocks in the 2000 and 2001 seasons. In 2001, was selected team captain and named to the all-region, Post and Courier All-Lowcountry and all-state teams. Post and Courier Lineman of the Year in 2001 and played in the Shrine Bowl the same year. Played football at the University of South Carolina, where he was a three-year starter and team captain. Played in the East-West Shrine All-Star game in 2005 and played professionally from 2006-11 in the National Football League, NFL Europe and the Canadian Football League.
LeAnna Morrison (Class of 2011) – Multi-year letter winner in track and basketball. Scored 1,200-plus career points on the hardwood, earned Post and Courier All-Lowcountry honors three seasons and was an all-state selection in 2011. Track standout who won 13 state championships over a six-year career. State champion in four events in 2011, setting the state record in the 400-meter hurdles. Post and Courier All-Lowcountry and Female Athlete of the Year in 2011. South Carolina Gatorade Athlete of the Year and the state’s Miss Track in 2011. Ran track two years at Charlotte where she set the Atlantic 10 record in the 400-meter hurdles and was named to the Atlantic 10 all-freshman team. Transferred to the University of South Carolina and played basketball during the 2013-14 season. Ran track at South Carolina from 2014-15. In 2016, ran track at the University of Hawaii at Manoa before transferring to Benedict College in 2017, where she played basketball on the Tigers’ 2017 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship team. Has served as track coach at Berkeley since 2017.
